Weird - thought I posted this earlier but I don't see it in the thread.
Is there a way to do a clean uninstall on a Mac?
I love pyfa but i can't seem to get it to default to the current 1.1.9 without using the dmg each and every time.
tried moving it to Applications but that way it doesn't run at all, just brings up "pyfa error" dialog.
thanks, this tool is awesome. |

thanks, this tool is awesome. Unfortunatly, we have no tester for mac, we have someone making the build and running it once. To reliably do everything right for macs, I need a dedicated tester for that. If anyone wants to volunteer :) Please join #evefit on coldfront
ok just joined the irc channel. a bit clueless but happy to do my best. |

~~ Question for experienced Mac Users ~~
How do I get pyfa installed on my machine so that I don't have to run it from the dmg each time?
I can run it fine from the dmg at the moment, and I was finally able to manually locate and delete the old version, but my goals are:
A clear list of steps for how Mac users can replace an existing install with the newer version,
and
A clear list of steps for going from the dmg to having pyfa installed on the harddrive
like other installed apps (so the dmg can be ejected/unmounted).
Thanks
FYI: If any other mac users want to join the devs in the irc channel, we could use the help for this platform. |

Sakari - new site is looking excellent!
Also can't get new pyfa to start on my macbook though, will try to hang out in irc to see if I can do any useful testing. |

Deleted the old version, copied the new version to my applications folder and now its not loading at all. Tried an older version as well... 0.9... still not working. Also tested under OSX Mountain Lion and Snow Leopard on two separate machines... and still not working.
Any ideas?
*EDIT* OK, noticed a previous post regarding this issue... can confirm "chmod +x /Applications/pyfa.app/Contents/MacOS/pyfa" is solving the problem. Archive should be fixed, by the way. EDIT: could someone confirm this please?
Just got a working archive from the site with no problems but the version number under Pyfa, About is 1.1.9.
As intended or no? |

Hey Sakari!
The "page" that says 1.1.9 is when I open the pyfa I just downloaded from evefit.com. When i go into the "Pyfa" menu and click "About," it says 1.1.9 git - Inferno 1.2
My question is, is that as intended, or should it say 1.1.10?
Re: losing my past fittings and character info, i'm pretty sure I must have done that.
I was happy that Pyfa started this time (so yes, you have fixed whatever needed fixing on the Mac package), and in my excitement I dragged the last two Pyfa icons in Finder to the Trash.
So maybe I killed my old settings then.
I've restored those two old icons, but am not sure how to get my settings back.
Thanks again for this awesome program, dude. |

Its basically the major motivation why i used pyfa over eft in past since i could basically test fittings a few hours after a devlog was released (which was incredible). The only reason why i didn't switch to eft yet is my laziness to convert the fittings :( I'm going to be really rude here because I need to get a point across: You are not paying for this product, as such, the only right you have is to do it yourself if you're not happy with what I'm doing. It is, after all, an opensource program. A pyfa update will be released on patch day as per usual, I sadly didn't have time to do buckingham builds, as I've been busy with the website, among other things.
Not rude, just a good reminder of what's what. |
